YESTERDAY'S WALK AROUND OUR LOCAL LAKE

What a beautiful walk yesterday - perfect breeze to make it not so hot. 

Today we walked there again but early around 10:00 to 11:00 and I realized I prefer late afternoon walks because the breezes start up.

After our walk we went over to our local nursery as I needed to get a few small pots for succulants.  My mother's day gift from one of my son's and his wife was a bowl with three or four different succulants in it.  They are now needing their own pot, each different succulant plant.  I always enjoy shopping in nurseries and usually take a few photos while there.

The purple aster at the lake is still blooming but a lot of it is dying out now so got a few pics of the ones that are left.

This last week the fountains and the water slide have been worked on and the fountains are now on every day.  People like to kayak or ride the huge water tricycles under the fountains which is a great way to stay cool.  Nobody was doing that when I took the photos.

 I spotted a few ducks on the shore - there haven't really been that many ducks in the lake this year and no coots.  This is the first year the lake has been full in several years so I think the ducks go to the other lakes which seem to have an abundance of mallards and coots this year and baby ducks.

I cannot pass up a garden shed  without taking photos.  There's something about the diffuse soft light that comes through the windows that appeals to me.

Lots more melting going on over at the lake that on my street and yard.  To finish our lake walk we walked up town a bit.

ANOTHER COLORFUL WALK AT THE LAKE NEAR THE HOUSE - LAKE GREGORY

I went out walking yesterday and stayed close to home.  It was a day of football at home so I like to go out for a solitary walk.

 Some trees were more colorful than last time and other trees that were SO colorful a week ago have now lost all their leaves - one in particular that I watched turn from green to red and bright orange are now carpeting the ground near the North Shore Inn.  It doesn't take long - I would say about three weeks for this particular tree from start to finish, maybe a bit longer.

Mt. San Moritz (as I recently learned the locals call the big pile of dirt that was dumped on the ball field after the work began on the dam project) is now slowly coming down.  It is right near San Mortiz Lodge, a beautiful venue for weddings but for the last two years has blocked the view of the lake and so many locals have complained about it - so this is a good thing - the dirt being taken away but i'm a little sad to lose Mt. San Moritz.
It looks like the whole top layer has now been shaved down ..it was a rather high mountain of dirt.

Since the lake has been so low in certain areas,  this guy has been out with a metal detector - I got a pic of him by zooming in and noticed the heron behind him.

I love the colors of the trees when you look up on the hills over the lake.  I often zoom in and sometimes get to watch them out on their decks having an nice lunch (I'm such a voyeur.)

There was a woman on the shoreline practicing her skills of "commanding" the ducks to come forth.  All she has to do is just throw the food out and they run like a bear is behind chasing them.  I kept my advice to myself so she could continue on...having..fun.

There were dogs and people enjoying the dog park along the trail yesterday.

Today is another trip over to Lake Arrowhead for another trail walk.

DRIVING INTO LAKE ARROWHEAD ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD

I saw this white blooming tree.  I couldn't get a photo of it so when we left the area we came back by it - in fact Mike made a point of going by it again so I could get my photos.  Going towards the tree on my side of the car the light was too bright so I pointed my camera backwards and didn't know I was getting the red of the fire station door in the pic.  It made the white pop.  Thanks to my resident chef ..I mean Mike.

I wonder who the guy is who is walking.  I hope he didn't mind me taking his pic.

Coming down Lake Gregory drive to go home I photographed the houses on the opposite side of the hills.  What beautiful weather we have been having.

After i get my "chores" done of which there are hardly any, I hope to go back out in search of white blooming trees.  I love them more than even pink, really pink, rosy pink, and other pink type of blooming trees (except for apple blossoms and magnolia trees).
