VISTING BEND, OREGON IN SPRING

 How can it be seven years ago that I enjoyed this visit.  I've been to Bend in all season because my third son and his family live there.  Spring and Fall has been the best with their colors and beautiful Deschutes running through part of the town.  This area in the photos is Mirror Pond which is an impoundment of the Deschutes River and is a beautiful area with a nice park basically right behind the old town of Bend.  

It's getting more difficult to decide, if we go sometime, who we can visit as three of my sons now live in different states.  We have been both to Oregon and Washingto but one of my sons moved to Montana around six years ago and we still haven't visited there.  He will be getting married in the fall of 2023 so we will definitely make a visit then.

I don't want to spend much time today posting as the trip we were going to take to Big Bear yesterday didn't happen because of some kind of traffic issue which caused a huge back up and people were turning around on the hwy going back down.  We will try again today.  I'm anxious to see if any wildflowers are finally blooming there.

LOOKING BACK - ...MIRROR POND, BEND OREGON

I came across these photos and am reminded of my trip to Bend, Oregon.  I'm hoping I can get back over the next few years and visit my son and his family and see some of the sights I love...especially Mirror Pond which is actually a part of DeSchutes river that runs through the city of Bend which is in Central Oregon and considered high desert.  This part especially was given it's name for the reflections that happen during a few seasons that I've been there, namely spring and fall. 

I remember being particularly taken with this house and the way it sits on the shore and is reflected in the water.  I love the yard with the chairs - and imagine sitting outside and  enjoying the scene - setting up a table and painting or sketching as people go  by on their paddle boats.  I'll be sharing more photos at a later time as it looks in the different seasons.  I think I also have some photos of winter time - and I know for sure I do of fall.

Love this neighborhood ..link here.... NORTHWEST CROSSING - bend, oregon.  They even have a few restaurants up from the park that mostly serve just this area.  Walking through the middle of the park and straight up the street to the small little town area.

FRONT PORCH POST BEND OREGON

I had the pleasure several years ago to be in Bend Oregon in the winter.  This was the first time I really knew I loved snow except as a kid in Kansas...and....anywhere but in my yard for more than a few days.

I remember every time I went out walking with my camera while we were staying up in Bend, I would get excited as the scenes came into view on my walks.  I went out several times a day for walks and got tons of snow pics!  I think I'll share them here again.  I did share some before, years ago but it's time to bring them forward again so I can enjoy it once more.  It was so cold - colder than I had experienced in Wrightwood, which was my first real experience living in the mountains in winter.

I didn't even notice the cold that much - I was too busy looking for more beautiful scenes.

Anway - one of my favorite houses in the neighborhoods I walked up there - this one was just a few steps from my son's house and I 've taken pics of this house in every season that we visited.

If it were my front porch I would  enjoy this front porch in spring, summer and fall and would enjoy looking at it in winter - much too cold to sit out there.  It looks out upon Compas park which is a park that is created like a compass with all the neighbohood streets coming into the middle.  A great place for families and friends to meet and greet each other.

WHEN WE WALK AT THE LAKE

We wait until just about the time the sun is setting lower before it disappears over the mountain.  It makes the hills look so pretty.

We are warming up again this coming week so again, we will wait until after 6:00 to go walk. 

We will see the Bend grandkids again tomorrow so I'm looking forward to that.
