I LOVE SAN SIMEON - THE TOWN WHERE HEARST CASTLE IS LOCATED

And I always love to drive down a little road and go by Sebastian's where there is always someone or some being outside sitting on the deck.  This particular time there was a couple sitting out there (he saw me taking his photo, (so sorry)...  anyway and the time before this it was a seagull sitting there.  Now being who I am, I have to go find THAT photo too.  I just can't leave well enough alone. I now have a goal - I've been without a goal over the last few days - but not any more!

Is there one special place you always look forward to driving by or stopping in for a coffee or ...  whatever?  And do you have a photo of it I can see;)

A NEW "FRONT PORCH" POST

I photograph a lot of houses when I'm out and now is a good time to post a Front Porch.  I saw this house up in Cambria, Ca - and it was so interesting to look at with all the pots of flowers and the color and style of the house.

When there it was raining all the way up the coast until we got to Cambria where it was beginning to clear and the sun was out.  What a gorgeous day  it was and we walked around the town a bit before heading back to San Luis Obispo.

I first visited this house back in the late 80's or early 90's if I remember correctly.  We had taken our kids and niece on a road trip up the coast and Cambria was along the way and this town has always been a favorite of mine ever since.  It has changed so much in 30 plus years.  Cambria is just below San Simeon where Hearst Castle is located.    We also years ago did a tour of the Castle which was nice but not as memorable to me as this town is.

MORE VACATION PHOTOS

This top photo is from a gift shop in Cambria - at the winery we visited.  There was a rack in front of it and the lighting was off so I fixed the contrast and I love the browns in it.

This shopping area appealed to me, took a few shots of it.  I stopped in the gift shop for a few months looking for something for my niece - anything to do with cats and couldn't find anything although they have a lot of "stuff" in there for tourists.  It's just before you get to San Simeon State Beach.

Another little area near the beach.  Sebastians is a store we have stopped at before.  It's a nice area to hang out for a bit.

The hills behind the horses are part of the Hearst Castle property, which the castle is high up on the top.  I have a photo from far away somewhere and i have photos of inside when taking a tour about 30 years ago.  Not sure where they are.

Moonstone beach area is where a lot of the hotels are facing the ocean.  It's so pretty driving through there.
