and...if I don't get to the beach area in 2021especially Newport. Laguna and Balboa Island area I'm going to ....  well have to aim for 2022 I guess.

ANOTHER FAVORITE HOUSE IN CLAREMONT

I'm hoping I can get back soon while the trees are still colorful.   I imagine by now a lot of the houses are decorated for Christmas.   Are you in the Christmas mood yet?

WHILE IN CLAREMONT YESTERDAY

I saw this beautiful house.  I love to sketch houses so I'm thinking this might be my next sketch.   Weather remains chilly, breezy and too darn cold to walk near a lake.

I'm hoping soon for another trip down the mountain to another favorite neighborhood to walk through.

YESTERDAY WENT OFF MOUNTAIN FOR A WARMER WALK THAN HERE IN THE MOUNTAINS

We went to a favorite place and it was in the 70's with a slight cloud cover that made for beautiful skies.

Claremont is a small University town and was bursting with fall colors while  the mountains where I live are for the most part through with their vivid colors.

I've always made a point to go to Claremont in December, the most beautiful time of the year and the leaf color changes are even still going on in January.

We were busy with family for about a week and then the following week I just had no motivation to post but I thought I would put up a photo and it might get me inspired again to pick up more regular posting here. We walked an area around the campus of the Claremont and Pomona Colleges. I love the neighborhoods close to the Universities because they are all mostly historical homes. I'll post more photos later so i have them here on the blog.

MORE COLOR FROM A NEARBY LAKE

I was reading about how our color change happens in fall with the leaves and at what altitude.

I looked at photos from last year and it appears are colors are a behind what they were last season here in the mountains.  I still have plenty of leaves on my wild lilac tree where last year there were only a few left at this time.   Anyway - these photo are from Lake ARrowhead where i went walking yesterday.  I hadn't seen it quite this colorful in all the time I've lived here.   The black oaks are crazy gold and yellow right now.  The aspens turned awhile back and seem to be done.  Dogwoods were the first to show colors and now are bare also.

Amazing spectacles of leaves changing color can be found in Sequoia and national parks  on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains east of San Joaquin Valley. Look for a rainbow of dogwoods, black oaks, aspen and black cottonwood. Fall color starts in August at about 10,000 feet and drops by elevation at a rate of 500 to 1,000 feet a week for 3 months.

RANDOM PHOTOS FROM THE LAST WEEK

The first two  are photos taken by someone else of our lake.  I posted them elsewhere but I want them on this blog.   It's not often i see our local  lake from this angle so I really appreciated this perrson posting these.  She was on her deck when they were taken.

The rest are just some random ones I chose for today.  It's' still chilly and when the wind blows the wind chill makes it fairly cold.  But, we are up in the 50's which is nice.  I thought we were going to make it through to the end of November without snow and one of the latest reports I saw was a potential for winter storms  during the week of  Thanksgiving.  I hope their wrong.
