OUR LITTLE TOWN

And it is a little town for sure.

Several days after we got home and when the snow was melting off the roofs and roads were cleared we got out to get more snow pics following the big damaging snow cyclone that hit the area while we were on vacation.  It knocked out power for about a week and the amount of trees that fell, some on to houses were a lot.  Our next door neighbor had damage to her car and roof but we had no damage to the house but a lot of tree damage.   The temperatures rose above freezing and the snow melt has been pretty quick.  In our yard there is no snow left.  These pictures were after so much had already melted.

Next few posts so i can chronicle on my blog this point in time will be about the snow.

AN INVITING PLACE TO SIT AND HAVE A COFFEE

Another business on the same street in Cambria  where businesses are run out of what looks like  private houses or Bed and Breakfast type places.

ANOTHER HOUSE IN CAMBRIA, CA - ON THE SAME STREET AS THE TWO BELOW

This was a very unique looking house  which I would love to see the inside.

Weather report for today - fog, clouds moving in, temperature dropped quickly about 10 degrees cooler than it was a little bit ago and misty rain starting.  I enjoyed the last several days because the weather was nice and we were able to get out and do a few long walks around the lake(s) up here.

No snow so far predicted for the next week but possibly later on in the month.

FRONT PORCH AND BEAUTIFUL HOUSE IN CAMBRIA NEAR TOWN

This house is just a few houses down from the one I posted earlier (The Spanish one below).   Most of these are private houses and some run little businesses out of their house.  I wish I still had photographs of our first visit to this area 30 years ago .  At that time I wasn't that much into photos except of my kids when they were little so even though I loved the town I doubt I would find photos of this street where the houses are.   I've been here so many times since and each time I find something new I forgot about.

So....Cambria, California - a must see town if you are ever in Central California area.  It's so quaint and just up the road a few miles you can tour Hearst Castle.   The first house I do remember seeing though on our first visit was a house made out of bottles (and maybe this is a false memory but also made out of hubcaps), a very different house and I know I have a photo of it somewhere.

Anyway I really liked this house when I saw it  in fact the whole part of the street we walked up was filled with unique houses with their own "soul" feeling.

I noticed there were several bikes out in front (not seen in these pics) that you can rent, so I assume that is part of their business they do out of this house.  (adding more: -Bridge Street Inn - ...has 10 rooms/suites.

A NEW "FRONT PORCH" POST

I photograph a lot of houses when I'm out and now is a good time to post a Front Porch.  I saw this house up in Cambria, Ca - and it was so interesting to look at with all the pots of flowers and the color and style of the house.

When there it was raining all the way up the coast until we got to Cambria where it was beginning to clear and the sun was out.  What a gorgeous day  it was and we walked around the town a bit before heading back to San Luis Obispo.

I first visited this house back in the late 80's or early 90's if I remember correctly.  We had taken our kids and niece on a road trip up the coast and Cambria was along the way and this town has always been a favorite of mine ever since.  It has changed so much in 30 plus years.  Cambria is just below San Simeon where Hearst Castle is located.    We also years ago did a tour of the Castle which was nice but not as memorable to me as this town is.
