We went back to where we lived before we moved to the mountains. One thing I miss SO much - is the ability to go in all directions and find trails, bike paths, cool neighborhoods to walk through. What I really miss is where I lived. We could walk out our back fence and take a dirt trail to beautiful areas in the spring especially.
It's kind of sad really, that now, because of vandalism and threats of fire that most streets where one could park and take off walking near where I lived (which was at the base of the foothills)... is now prohibited. If I still lived in my old house it wouldn't bother me because I could just walk out beyond the fence and hike. But now I have to find a neighborhood that I can park in to revisit some of the old trails.
Here are a few pics I took in 2010 - about the last time we took out beyond our house in back. For a few days I'll post photos of this area interspersed of course with my ever continuing central coast pics.
We would take out and walk west along the wash and find areas to go deeper into toward the north - and then down below was a big canyon we would hike into.
When I was in my mid 50's we started climbing a lot of the foothill areas that had no trails - we would choose a street going north - find a way into the hills and start hiking. Sometimes making our own trails. It was SO fun and I miss those days. Here our walking and hiking is so dependent on the seasons and the weather. Down below we could go out almost any day we chose to.
