ALONG THE HWY THROUGH FAWNSKIN

Being up in Big Bear Lake area yesterday we were driving along the hwy through Fawnskin to see if the Nature Center was open.  I had my camera with me, taking photos as we passed areas along the hwy.

When I got home and was editing my photos this scene stood out.  Not sure why I'm so drawn to it but it could be that green house and the trees or it could be a combination of that plus the perfect temp and feel of the day.

The Big Bear lake definitely needs a couple of real good winter seasons to get the lake back up to a good level.  The shoreline grows every larger every time we go up as the lake level shrinks.

Very quiet this week as the holidays ended.

I'VE BEEN OUT AND ABOUT GETTING LOTS OF PHOTOS

But today, I want to put up some photos from Oak Glen, Ca in the spring.

This area is at about 4800 feet - pretty much the very same altitude as we are and in the same mountain ranges but to get to it we have to go down to the freeway and travel east for about 10 miles or so and then back up north to Oak Glen...about an hour drive from here.   I love going there but with the gas so high in California we won't be going there much at all.  There's not a lot to do other than enjoy nature and eat at one of the few restaurants in the area.  The tourists on the weekends are crazy so we usually go on a Monday but then all the stores and restaurants are closed which is fine actually.

Here are some of my favorite photos.

I was amazed that Van Gogh himself didn't appear in these photos waving to these people to get out of his wildflower fields.  I know I wanted to.  There is a nice trail when you first get to this area where you can walk but it isn't through this area.  You can walk around it but shouldn't walk through it.

I won't inundate this page with the hundreds of photos I took.  It was so beautiful to see.

LOVELY HORSES

Yesterday we went back to mountain country, Baldwin Lake area in Big Bear and took the jeep off road.  We came to these beautiful horses and I got out for a few minutes to take photos.  There was a very thin but noticeable electric line running through the white fence to keep them from getting close to the road.  The one horse seemed to be curious and came up close to the fence.  Seeing the horses made the trip worthwhile.

A HOUSE FROM SAN LUIS OBISPO

I randomly opened up an older file of when we made one of our visits to the central coast of California.  I actually don't remember seeing this house but I must have liked it at the time to have taken a photo.  I  love that yard.

Made yet another trip up to Big Bear Lake yesterday.  The lupine was really in bloom and it was a beautiful day.  At some point I need to catch up on several months (years) of photos I've never posted.

Have a great weekend.

A VOLKSWAGON THAT I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE

Every time I see an old VW that has been so well maintained - I would love to have one.  I was sitting in the car at our town's 7/11 when as Mike was putting gas in the car I looked over and saw this beautiful Volkswagon in front of the wall with the mural.  I kind of like that it was parked there so I took a photo of it.  Some of the family came walking out with ice cream for everyone as they climbed into the van.

Leaving soon so I'm just putting up a quick post today.
