The clouds were moving in while we were there and it was a gorgeous day! Last night heavy winds blew all night long but luckily we didn't lose power. Today is chilly and off and on windy but at least we aren't getting snow like other areas of the country.
We have found three different ways to get into the shoreline to walk around the lake. Lake Arrowhead is a private lake ( a lot of celebrity homes up here in this area) and if you don't own property then the public is restricted from the shoreline. But rules never stopped us. We found our way on to the shorelines in three different areas and one part of the trail is just as beautiful as the others.
To drive around the lake totals about 19 miles. We have probably been able to walk about over half of the shoreline by getting on at three different places. We have been walking it now ever since last fall and in the beginning we felt kind of sheepish like what if they ask for Proof of Membership. By now though, we feel that it belongs to us, at least the sky does! And people are friendly and just wave and say hello as they pass us so that's good!
Here's some photos from yesterday on the shortest trail we go and more level than the other trails. There is a lot of up and down hill walking etc..on the other two trails we take.

A friend of mine retired at the lake and lived there for many years. I went up to visit and loved it. It is such a beautiful place. I see a lot more houses than when I visited about 15 years ago or so. Normal, I guess.
ReplyDeleteHi Inger, I hardly came up here 15 years ago, maybe once every so many years, way before the Village had outlet type stores. I am amazed at all the multimillion dollar homes up here - ..and when we walk the shoreline no one is ever out in their yards ...Finally this last time saw more people walking the trail. But of course winter just passed.
ReplyDeleteWow! I missed this post I guess. These photos came out so beautifully! Would love to walk there!
ReplyDeleteHope we can walk here when you come in May (if you really do which I would love)
ReplyDeleteThose homes all look so magnificent. It must be a beautiful place to live along that lake.
