We drove up to the peak the other day and there was still some ice on the narrow road going up that still hadn't melted after a month. Tomorrow we may get snow again as the weather is changing after having winds and warmer temps. I don't think we will get more than an inch or so.
Although I don't find cell towers attractive i did like the way it looked with the clouds in the background.
A few photos of the blinding sun we get this time of year as it sets over the ocean. In one of them, third photo down you can see the ocean which is well over 60 miles from where we are and on certain days you can make out Catalina Island which is even farther.
The clouds were fairly high up the day this first one was taken.
The sun is so blinding any more. It's like a big, giant magnifying glass is over it and if you look more than a second your eyes will burn up. We were walking yesterday around 5:p.m. and did our best to keep the sun behind us. It was unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteIt's unbelieveable up here the last weeks - so blinding at a certain time. Literally couldn't see the other day coming into it. He had to go slow and follow the white line. it was that bright and orange almos fluorescent
ReplyDeleteYou captured some beautiful pictures of it but it is scary to drive while almost blinded by it. I didn't realize that you were only 60 miles from the ocean. The ocean and the mountains, you have the best of both worlds!
ReplyDeleteThat's so amazing, you can see the ocean from your mountain.
ReplyDeleteHi Dewena - It's probably over 60 miles but the way we go which isn't very often, we have avoided a lot of traffic. We're planning a trip again - just a day trip before Spring break and summer when the crowds get too much.
ReplyDeleteInger - Zooming in with the camera like I did makes it look closer but other than winter it doesn't show up. It's only this time of year the sun sets right over the ocean. I think it actually starts in November.
Los atardeceres sonm preciosos y el cielo de la primera fotografía.
ReplyDeleteBesos
When you see the sunset, the days are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos. What an incredible color is the sky.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant photographs.
ReplyDeleteThe sun is so welcome in winter but at its low angle really dangerous when you're driving. It's the only time I use sunglasses!
Ooooo!
ReplyDelete__ Such grand sunset photos as these, sail my eye-thoughts to those places... on my ships imagination; grand_!
as each light closes

So lovely and so amazing to get that view of the ocean 60 miles away.
ReplyDeleteNow that the wind has died down we are having warm weather again.
Looking at your shots gives me wanderlust for travel.
Sue
I hope you didn't even get a dusting a snow. I'm so done with Winter. The sun looks gorgeous and amazing how you can see for miles and miles.
ReplyDeleteCJ - yeah we got 6.6 inches the last storm and another one coming tomorrow. i'm so done also.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue - yeah it's only a few months out of the year we can see that far because the sun lights it up. I wouldn't mind some warm weather.
Magyar - thank you so much for the haiku - I love them.
thanks Winifred - Yeah when the sun is blinding i try to time when i will be out on the rim coming home from somewhere.
Thanks Maria, Catalin and Antonia.
Lovely photographs ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
